TEAM POLICIES

PRACTICE ATTENDANCE

Divers are expected to attend the practices for which they register. Practices are scheduled based on registration and have specific lesson plans, so for us to be most effective, we must know who will be at practice.

MAKE-UP PRACTICES

We do not schedule make-up practices during the year. If you are forced to miss a class please contact your instructor to find a date with an open spot to fill.

PRACTICE CHANGES / CANCELLATIONS

Louisville Dive Club may on occasion have to cancel practices and make adjustments due to scheduling conflicts. All schedule changes will posted on the LDC Calendar page, and communicated by email and GroupMe. The online calendar will be updated regularly, and it is your responsibility to check it for changes or cancellations.

DIVER SCHEDULES

We are aware that our divers may occasionally need to change their scheduled practice days. Please contact us your specific coach with any potential schedule adjustments that you may require, with as much advance notice as possible. We will do our best to be flexible, but changes must be communicated in advance.

Please communicate any extended absences due to injury, illness, vacation, etc., either at louisvillediveclub@gmail.com, or directly with your coach with as much advance notice as possible. Please include the reason for missing practices and the dates that you will be absent. Group dynamics are an important part of the training process and extended absences effect not only your diver but other divers as well.

PAYMENT POLICIES

Payments: All payments must be processed through the Louisville Dive Club payment vehicle on the website (louisvillediveclub.com) unless prior arrangements are made. We will gladly accept payments in cash or check, but missed payments may force us to change the manner which we accept payments.

Family Discount: Families (and high schools) with multiple divers registered for Louisville Dive Club programs will receive discounts based on the number of siblings participating. Please contact us in advance so that you can take advantage of our discounts.

Prorated Fees: Our payment system is based on a monthly or a session billing cycle. Divers and their families are responsible for the total fee for that month or session.

MEET POLICIES

During the season, we hope to schedule a series of competitions/meets. Some meets are local, developmental meets, and some are Regional, Zone, and National level meets that will require traveling. Attendance at the local meets is strongly encouraged for Louisville Dive Club team members, as it is part of an athlete’s development as a well-rounded diver.

The Regional, Zone, and National level competitions are also invaluable opportunities, and they are also highly encouraged for those divers ready to attend, based on Louisville Dive Club coaches’ recommendations. Pertinent information concerning competitions, including fees, lodging and travel, will be provided before each event.

Most competitions will have registration fees, which divers and their families will be responsible for covering.

Families are responsible for covering the cost of coaches’ travel, lodging and per diem to all meets. LDC membership registration for the National Team is required and covers the majority of these fees. If a diver who is not a member of the national team attends a meet, they will be invoiced for their portion of these fees. Divers are also responsible for their travel arrangements and costs for each meet.

Any diver participating in a meet is required to have their own transportation. In following the United States Olympic Committee’s Safe Sport Program, endorsed by USA Diving, Louisville Dive Club coaches cannot provide transportation to athletes.

While attending meets, Louisville Dive Club coaches are only responsible for the divers’ time spent at the pool for warm-ups and the actual competition. Outside of that time, families are expected to make arrangements for a parent, guardian, or chaperone to attend with their diver.

DIVERS AND PARENTS

Diver Rules

It is expected that all divers respect ALL coaches on the coaching staff, as well as fellow divers.
Divers exhibiting poor behavior or bad attitudes will be asked to leave practice.
Repeated attitude or behavior problems will result in removal from the program.
Divers are expected to attend all scheduled practices. Not only is this an important life skill, it helps each diver improve and reach their potential.
Please let the head coach know if you will be missing a practice and the reason for your absence.
The diver is responsible for all communication with the head coach or coaching staff. Any questions, conflicts, injuries should be discussed between the coach and the diver.

Parental Rules

All parents who wish to stay and observe their son/daughter’s training session must sit in the bleacher area. Parents may not observe on the pool deck.
At no time should you coach your son/daughter before, during, or after practice.
ALL coaching/training questions should be directed to your child’s coach.

Parents are not allowed in the dryland facility unless they have contracted for a one-on-one lesson

GRIEVENCES

The Louisville Dive Club strives to have an open communication policy with all participants. If at any time, you feel you would like to leave the program or have any other concerns with your diver’s participation, we first suggest you address concerns in a scheduled meeting with their coach. If your concerns persist, please notify us at louisvillediveclub@gmail.com so we can schedule a meeting to discuss how to proceed.

Addressing complicated issues at a practice or on the pool deck does not allow us to appropriately address your concerns. We certainly do not want any unhappy divers participating with us, but diving is a sport where athletes do experience challenges, and we want the best for each of our athletes and are more than willing to discuss options.
